    Armony Kitchen: Built Around You

    6 May
Armony kitchens are Italian-made, fully customisable, and built to fit the room they go into – from a single galley wall in an apartment to a full composition with an island and pantry columns.

What you see in the Umm Suqeim showroom is large by design – built to demonstrate what is possible across the catalogue. The principles that make it work apply at every scale: a galley wall, a single island, a partial replacement of an existing layout. Three things change when you commission one: storage, light, surface.

    Storage

That Follows How You Live in the Kitchen

A kitchen is not only a place where food gets made. It is where breakfast happens on a weekday morning, where children do homework while a parent cooks, where guests gather before dinner moves to the dining table, where a laptop sometimes ends up on the island because the light there is best. Storage has to support all of that, not just the cooking.

Drawers specified in different depths: shallow for cutlery, deeper for plates and pans
An awkward corner turns into a full-height pull-out pantry with shelves, drawers, or open storage – whichever fits the household

At Armony, almost everything is configurable – starting with the layout itself, which is built around your floor plan rather than chosen from a fixed range of modules. Tall pantry columns hold an entire week's groceries behind a single door. Drawers are specified in different depths: shallow for cutlery, deeper for pans, deepest for appliances. Internal organisers separate utensils, spices, baking trays, knives. Corner units are fitted with carousels or pull-out racks rather than the wasted dark cavity that defines most builder kitchens.

One full-height column absorbs what would otherwise occupy half the kitchen

The detail you notice in daily use is the way the cabinets open. Soft-close mechanisms keep the kitchen quiet. Push-to-open fronts mean a drawer can be opened with the back of a hand or an elbow when fingers are floury, oily, or wet – a small detail that becomes part of the daily rhythm of cooking. Hinges and runners are sourced from leading Italian and German makers, specified for tens of thousands of cycles. The cabinetry itself is covered by a two-year manufacturer warranty against defects.

"The first conversation with a client about a kitchen is never about style. It is about habits. What do you use every day? What do you reach for once a month? Where does the coffee live? Where do you eat breakfast when nobody else is up? The answers to those questions decide the layout long before we choose a finish."

    Light

Designed Into the Kitchen, Not Added On

Lighting in a kitchen is not decoration. It is the difference between cooking with confidence at eight in the evening and squinting at a chopping board under a single ceiling fixture. At Armony, light is planned at the same stage as the cabinetry, not added afterwards.

Backlit splashback, linear strips above the worktop, a low pendant over the island – three layers of light, each independently switched

Linear strips run along the underside of wall units to illuminate the worktop without shadow. Spot fixtures are positioned over the hob, the sink, and the prep zone, each one independently switched. Inside the pantry corner system, integrated lighting comes on automatically when the door is opened, so nothing gets lost at the back of a deep shelf. Above the worktop, motion-activated fixtures can be turned on with a wave of the hand – useful when fingers are wet, dusted with flour, or holding a knife. Built-in sockets sit flush in the worktop or under wall units, so kettles, blenders, and chargers stay plugged in without trailing cables.

"A good kitchen has at least three lighting scenarios built in. One for cooking, where you need clear, bright task light over every working surface. One for breakfast or a coffee, where you want something softer, lower, more focused on the island. And one for hosting, where the kitchen becomes part of the living space and the lighting needs to work as ambient, not functional. We design those scenarios in from the start. They are much harder to retrofit later."

That Meet the Rest of the House

Armony's catalogue includes more than 200 finishes. That number sounds abstract until you stand in front of the sample wall and realise what it means in practice: the kitchen does not have to look like a kitchen. It can pick up the tone of the oak floor in the adjoining living room. It can be specified a shade lighter than the joinery in the entrance, or a shade darker. It can be matt where the rest of the home is glossy, or the other way round.

The material palette covers brushed and flamed oak veneer, lacquered MDF in matt or gloss, thermo-structured melamine that reproduces the grain and knot of solid wood, stone worktops in marble or quartzite, and metal finishes such as X-Steel for base units. Lighter compositions – pale oak with off-white lacquer, for example – work well in open-plan apartments where the kitchen is visible from the living area and a dark scheme would weigh the room down. Darker, more architectural compositions work in enclosed kitchens where the room can stand on its own.

Beneath the finish layer, the construction is certified to standards that matter for indoor air quality: CARB2 for formaldehyde emissions, GREENGUARD Gold for chemical exposure in living spaces, and FSC for wood traceability. For a home where the kitchen shares space with the living area, this matters.

Wood, stone, lacquer, melamine and metal – the Armony palette covers every direction a kitchen could take

    A Project for Decades

Armony kitchens at Dantone Home are built to fit the home for decades. The hardware, the finishes, the layout itself – all specified for that timescale, and around the way the household actually lives, not a showroom photograph.
