Bed First: Three Bedrooms for Around AED 10,000

Three complete bedrooms, each chosen to work as a single order rather than a run of lucky finds, at around AED 10,000 instead of roughly AED 14,000.

A bedroom is the easiest room to get wrong on a sale. The bed is the one piece worth queuing for, and once it is bought the budget for everything around it tends to run out. What arrives afterwards is whatever was still reduced, in whatever finish, and the room never quite settles.

So we asked Dima Ghanem, Senior Architect and Interior Designer at Dantone Home, to work the other way round: to build three bedrooms from the sale as though each were a single order.

"People almost always furnish the bedroom first. You can live a week without a sofa, but not without a bed, and the first night in a new place decides how someone feels about the flat afterwards.

And a bedroom starts with the bed. It takes up a third of the room and costs more than everything else together, so the rest is measured from it: its height sets the bedside tables, its tone sets the textiles, its headboard decides whether the room needs a light above the bed or just one beside it.

That is how these three rooms were put together. Each one starts from a single piece, and everything after it was chosen to answer that piece rather than added to a basket because it was reduced."

Three complete bedrooms: bed, two bedside tables, two lamps, a rug and wall art. From AED 9,980, on sale until 30 August

    One: Cream and Honey Oak

The Newberry headboard is stitched in horizontal bands, which pulls the eye sideways and makes a narrow room read wider. Everything else in this set is warm and low in contrast: honey oak on the bedside tables, an off-white rug, a pair of plaster-toned panels above the bed.

AED 13,880 at full price, AED 10,140 on sale

The lamps are the piece to look at twice. The Aurore base is stoneware, twisted as though the clay had been turned while still soft, so it throws a different silhouette from every side of the room. At AED 250 it is the cheapest thing in the set and the one guests will ask about.

Everything here sits within the same handful of tones, which is why it reads as rest rather than decoration

    Two: Brass and Faded Pattern

The same Newberry frame in a grid of square tufting, which reads more formal than the horizontal version and takes better to older, softer things around it. Here the bedside tables are not bedside tables at all: the Rustic Accent Table pairs a blackened oak top with a hammered brass frame, and its open structure keeps the floor visible on both sides of the bed, so a small room does not close in.

AED 13,560 at full price, AED 9,980 on sale

The rug carries the age in this room. Estee is a floral worn back almost to the ground, the pattern present but faded, which is what stops the brass from looking new.

Brass, terracotta, and a faded floral, none of it competing for attention

    Three: Grey, Black, and Geometry

The largest of the three, built on a York bed at 200x200 cm in a grey weave, with black oak beside it. This is a room that can take pattern, so the rug is the loudest piece in the set: Puzzle sets pale quarter-circles against charcoal, and the geometry answers the vertical channels of the headboard rather than fighting them.

AED 14,270 at full price, AED 10,430 on sale

Above the bed, Constant is square, 100 cm on each side. A wide headboard needs a piece with some width to it, and a narrow frame in the same position would look stranded.

All of the pattern is on the floor, which lets the walls stay quiet

A Separate Offer for Those Moving Into a New Home

All three beds store bedding under the mattress, which is the detail that matters most in a first flat, where the wardrobe is usually already full.

And if the EJARI is recent, the offer for recent movers runs alongside the sale: 15% off non-discounted items, on an Emirates ID and an EJARI issued within the last six months, delivered to the address on it. The two do not combine on the same piece, so the sensible order is to take the bedroom from the sale and the 15% for whatever the rest of the flat still needs.

Dubai Summer Surprises runs until 30 August, and every price above holds until then.
